Today is National Caramel Popcorn Day, to celebrate we tried a new recipe at home. If you’re on Instagram, head over to my profile and check the stories where I took over a fellow’s Instagram account and prepared this recipe live.
The recipe I prepared is super easy. Plus, you can use any popcorn of choice. To make the caramel you only need a handful of ingredients – which you probably already have.
The girls even helped me out on this one. Yes! That’s how easy it is to make. So keep reading and take notes. Because this would make a fun family activity for a weekend night, along with a movie (just a thought). 😉
Making the Caramel Popcorn
Prepare the popcorn according to the instructions on the package make sure that kernels that did not pop are removed.
Then, in a pot, add the butter and sugar bringing to a boil. After about four minutes add the vanilla. And boil for an extra minute; at this point you will add the baking soda. This will start to foam, that’s perfectly fine.
Remove pot from heat and drizzle caramel over popped popcorn and mix well. Then spread popcorn over a cookie sheet and let it cool.
That’s it! What do you think; will you try to make caramel popcorn? If you do, let me know if you liked it.
