Nail art is the most simple yet impactful form of self-care. It allows you to show showcase your creativity, especially when you do your nails yourself. But even when you visit your favorite nail tech with an idea, it shows both of your creative sides. I have done several DIY nail art, but this evil eye inspired pattern is among my favorite for its aesthetics. It is also super easy to do! Since the popular evil eye is believed to ward off negativity and bring good fortune, why not wear it on your nails. 😛
Today, you will see how easy it was to create these evil eye inspired nails. All with tools that you probably already own and from your own home. You will need your favorite base coat (I linked by favorite below) and top coat. Get your nail polishes in white, blue, black, and nude. You will also need to grab a bobby pin and toothpick for creating the dots. Nail polish remover and Q-tips for clean up.
Step 1: Prepare Your Nails
Start by ensuring your nails are clean and free of any previous nail polish. File your nails to your desired shape and apply a clear base coat to protect your natural nails and help the nail polish adhere better.
Step 2: Apply the Base Colors
For a classic evil eye design, use a white nail polish as the base color on all your nails. I used a nude color instead, which you can also use. Allow it to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 3: Create the Evil Eye
- White Background: On as many nails as you want to create an evil eye on, create a white circle. This will serve as the background for the evil eye. Allow this to dry.
- Blue Circle: Create a blue circle and allow it to dry completely.
- Black Pupil: Using the bobby pin or even a toothpick, carefully paint a black dot in the center of the blue circle to represent the pupil of the eye. This gives the design its iconic evil eye look.
If you want to add details, use a fine brush or a toothpick to draw a delicate gold ring around the eye. This adds depth and a touch of elegance to the design. Once your nail art is dry, apply a clear top coat to protect your design and make it last longer. This will also give your nails a glossy finish. And if you’ve accidentally painted outside your nail area, use a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover to clean up the edges and perfect your evil eye nail art.
Evil eye nail art is a captivating way to adorn your nails. By following this DIY guide, you can create stunning evil eye designs by yourself and right from your home. So, gather your nail art tools and get ready to showcase your artistic skills with this easy nail design!
