Holiday Decor that is Minimal but Impactful – Thirty Minus One

Holiday Decor that is Minimal but Impactful

The holidays are here and I honestly feel like I started decorating a little too late. But I’m happy to say that all my decor is up and I’m done! Unless I keep coming across holiday decor ideas that the DIYer in my won’t be able to resist doing. This year, I really wanted to change the colors around the house, but I opted for adding a few new details instead. Because I didn’t find the color that I was after locally and I got a little too impatient to place an order and wait. I’m thinking that perhaps next year, there will be a drastic change in color scheme for the tree ornaments. As well as the rest of the decor throughout our home. I will say that I am very happy with what I accomplished this year. So let’s get this Christmas tour started!

If you have been coming around here for a while, you know that I am a complete minimalist. So, for the front door. I have been using the same wreath for about three Christmases now. And to spruce it up, all I’ve done is add bells and a bow. The small tree by the door and doormat have been with us for at least two years now.

Inside the house something that did change is the wooden shelf where the stockings hang. I decided to build it in late October, since I knew the holidays were coming up and I had no place to hang our stockings. Thought last year I made a tower sign to hang them. I quickly realized that it wasn’t strong enough to hold each stocking and it’s contents. The shelf itself  served to display a holiday finds. Some of my favorite holiday decor include the small tree and the little ceramic houses from Target. Sprucing up each stocking, I feel also made a difference. I simply added a few Christmas elements like pinecones, berries, and festive ribbon.

In the kitchen this year, I added two golden nutcrackers that I found at a local store, but I also found similar nutcrackers online and I have linked them for you below. The Christmas tree sign is from last season, so I could not link it for you. I brought out all my Christmas mugs too as I not only use them but feel like they halp decorate the space a little.

I really wanted to change the colors of the tree ornaments this year, but I waited too long to do that, so I decided to stick to the same color scheme as last year. What’s new with the tree are the bows! I ended up buying ribbon and just making the bows one night as we were watching Christmas movies. I have to say that it was a fun quick and fun DIY. My littlest even helped make a few. I also linked most of our trees accessories in case that any caught your eye and you’d like to shop for these.

I did fail to photograph the shelf in our entryway, but there I also have a few holiday decor items on it. Perhaps I’ll share bit more of these on Instagram. Which remind me, stop by and check out my new reel, where you can see how every little corner has been decorated to celebrate Christmas.
