Competitive sports can be a wonderful activity that teach kids a ton of important lessons. Doing creative sports helps kids stay active and learn to work as part of a team, as well as how to win and lose graciously. However, many types of competitive sports can come with a degree of risk to the health of your child, if you approach it carelessly. There are a variety of physical and psychological pressures that competitive sports puts on kids and their bodies. Here are some tips to remember, when it comes to keeping your kids healthy throughout a sport season…
Make sure they use the right equipment
First of all, it’s important to remember that every sport comes with equipment. Some sports require a ton of specialized gear, such as hockey or fencing, while other sports are far less equipment-intensive, such as soccer. It is important to make sure that your child is using all of their gear and using it in the right way. Most of that equipment is there to keep your child safe during each game, so it is highly important not to forego anything that might prevent an injury. Even just forgetting to wear a mouthguard can cause host of problems for your child’s health.
Happy Friday Eve! Are you ready for the weekend? I am! But first, I wanted to share this Off Shoulder Top. I found this top while I was out shopping last week and I couldn’t walk away from it. I mean, it’s right on trend with the off shoulder style but also by its fall color according to Pantone fashion color report. 😉
I told you last week that florals are trending, another reason why it caught my eye. And lastly, because Texas is so damn hot that less clothing is still a must. 🙂
The jeans I bought the same day, I just loved the dark wash on these. The wedges you have seen before and I will confess that they have been on repeat but only because they’re comfortable and go with everything. Plus these are the perfect transitional pair. I added some arm candy, my favorite cross-body bag and earrings to complete the look.
Keep scrolling because I linked similar options for each item in this look.
¡Feliz casi Viernes!
Cajun Food, is one of my favorites because it is so flavorful. In fact, we love it so much that we have tried our hand at a few Cajun recipes like Crawfish Étouffée and this Shrimp Po’ Boy recipe, just to name a few. I like cooking with shrimp because it makes a quick meal, similar to chicken. It doesn’t take too long to thaw out or cook.
These Po’ Boys are a no brainer when I’m in a rush. I mean, you only need a handful of ingredients; shrimp, bread, lettuce and tomatoes. Plus, whatever seasoning you’d like, in this case the Cajun seasoning is what I used and suggest.
It has been over six years since I moved away from Columbus, Georgia. And though we have visited several times the last few years. It has always been for short periods of time, about a week or less. But this summer I was able to spend a little over three weeks in what I once considered home. This time was not only great for spending time with my family but also for discovering new gems in the small town that has a special place in my heart.
So, I’ll say that I was impressed by the progress the town has made since we moved away. So much, that we contemplated moving back. But then bounced out of it, I guess my love for Houston is much stronger. Either way, I thought I could pass on details on things to do while in Columbus. This would be especially useful to military families who move in and out of the Columbus and Fort Benning area.
Uptown Water Park
When I lived in Georgia, this was not around. I also didn’t have any kids, so it would not have been a place where you’d find me. However, now that I have two girls it was a great and refreshing way to cool down during the summer days we spent. What is it? It’s a giant Splash-pad, adjacent to a playground and overlooking the river.
Columbus Public Library
This is not a new attraction, and possibly not one that most people think to visit. But there’s something beautiful about the library; the architecture is what I’m probably drawn to. The Aflac Children’s Room is divine; it’s like walking into a story book. The space is large and perfectly decorated. We easily spent two hours there, while the girls picked out books, colored and played with other children who were visiting.
FLOWERS! What do you think about when your hear the word flowers? Spring, right?! Even though Fall is slowly creeping, the floral trend is sticking around. I’m not mad about it, either. Fall Florals? Yes, please!
I love floral prints and this delicate floral top from SheIn is perfect as we’re in between seasons. I styled it with my favorite jeans, but could easily wear it with white shorts or pants.
Also, I am currently loving studs, as you can probably tell by my handbag and sandals. I got the sandals for a steal at Kohl’s, keep scrolling for detail on how to get your hands on these. 😉
