Trendy Thursday LinkUp: Bodysuits + Jeans

SHOP BODYSUIT HERE

Bodysuits are one of my favorite styles, in fact one that I wear all year long. Express, one of my favorite retailers has a great selection of bodysuits; including the one that I’m sharing today. This one is on sale and under $20. Plus, it has a fun cutout design on the back. So, I wanted to share it along with some other finds in the bodysuit department.

I love bodysuits because they can be worn so many ways, with jeans (like I did here), skirts, shorts, and even trouser. I also love that if it’s a style that buttons at the bottom, you don’t necessarily have to wear it that way, you can simply tuck it in and leave it unbuttoned. I point this out because many people have expressed their dislike for bodysuits because of the button requirement.

My style is mostly casual, especially in the summer. And I couldn’t help but wear this bodysuit with my favorite jeans – which I’m linking for you below. I blindly recommend these because they’re great quality. I have worn them many times to create different looks. To accomplish an absolute laid back and casual look, I kept all accessories to the minimum by wearing dainty pieces. Like the layered necklace look, which is somewhat new to me but I’m loving. I still want to add one more piece to complete it though. The bag you have seen many times before because it’s my summer go-to. 🙂 Now, I’m curious to know your opinion on bodysuits.

Why Brawny Tear-A-Square® is Our Favorite Barbecue Season Essential

This post is sponsored by Brawny® but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

It’s officially Barbecue season and I’m turning to Brawny Tear-A-Square® to take on everything from holding our favorite snacks to cleaning up the messes! The new Brawny paper towel is truly a game changer! Now it offers three different size options, so they are perfect to use on clean ups and even as a napkin.

For my family, barbecues are a big deal and they are not just a weekend thing; especially as the weather get warmer. Summer isn’t officially here yet but we have started to spend lots of time outside by the pool. In this Texas heat there’s really no better way to cool off. Since we spend so much time outside, it only makes sense to take advantage and grill our favorites. Plus, this is one of the best ways to get the hubby involved in cooking. 😉

Brawny paper towels have been our barbecue essential lately! It’s just great to have all the different sizes the new Brawny Tear-A-Square offers. And I have even noticed that since using these, my family also seems to make less waste. We have stopped using plates for certain things, like our favorite chips, candies and cookies, these all fit perfectly on the quarter sheet size. This new size also works as a napkin, so there’s no need to buy both paper towels and napkins for barbecues and gatherings.

I plan to keep Brawny Tear-A-Square in use during every event this summer, from our impromptu barbecues to gatherings with friends and family. Having a paper towel that offers strength and flexibility to only use what you need, is a must. As you get ready for all your summer gatherings, keep the new Brawny Tear-A-Square in mind. You can now find it at your local Kroger! And believe me when I say, it will become your favorite barbecue season essential!

Six Different Ways to Wear Shorts this Summer

Shorts are an essential part of my summer wardrobe – especially living in Houston – temperatures as high at 90+ these are really a must. Because I spend a lot of time in these, I like having different options for styling them. Today I’m sharing six ways I like to wear them in the summer, to give you some inspiration when it comes to wearing shorts. 🙂

Shorts + Blouses

A blouse doesn’t always belong to a dressed up look. Sure they look great with trousers and skirts but jeans and jeans shorts are fair game too. In this look, I went for a casual vibe (my usual) wearing them with a blouse with my favorite slide on sandals, neutral handbag and minimal accessories.

Shorts + Sweaters

Of all the ways to wear shorts, I think wearing them with sweaters is one of my favorite. Especially if paired with a lightweight sweater, one that is breathable enough to wear in summer. This look I think is also perfect for beachside and lakeside days. 🙂

Shorts + Tanks

Tanks are so breeze that this pairing is a no-brainer. I especially love ones that have pretty details like ruffles. As for the shorts are so comfortable, I like the baggy fit and fun details like stitching on the sides and the cuff hem. I paired them with wedges – which are a go-to shoe this summer – and a fun clear bag which can also be worn without the insert. 😉

Shorts + Button Down Shirt

Button down shirts are a wardrobe essential on their own. Because I already owned this one, I thought it would be perfect to pair with shorts and use as a cover up while at the pool. If you follow me on Pinterest, you’ll see a few pins on how to style button down shirts in a similar way to this look.

Shorts + T-shirts

Lastly, paired with t-shirts are a combination you can not go wrong with. This is one of the ways I wear them the most, especially to be around the house. Now tell me, what’s your favorite way to style and wear shorts in the summer?

Rompers and Jumpsuits, Two Trends to Love from Burkes Outlet

Which is your favorite, Rompers or Jumpsuits? I personally have always loved rompers; it has been my go-to style for many summers now. Sometime this year the jumpsuit trend piqued my interest. So I tried my first jumpsuit while on vacation and quickly became a fan. Now, when I’m asked this question, it’s hard to answer because I love both equally. Luckily, Burkes Outlet has a great selection of both styles to choose from. All at very affordable prices like the two that I styled and wore here. The best part is that if you don’t have a store in your area, you can still shop online. 😉

Five Things To-Do in Galveston this Summer

I’ve talked about Galveston in the past and it’s because it is the closest beach town to Houston. I’ll admin that while the water is not clear blue like that of other beach towns, I still love Galveston. Even more I love the atmosphere, people, food and entertainment options. The people of Galveston are so laid back and easy going, exactly what you’d expect from residents of a beach town. The food is pretty darn good and I have a few spots that have become favorites, read about them here. As far as entertainment, there are plenty of options for adults and children alike. We like to keep it simple and the girls don’t mind, so we have done all of the below and had a blast.

1. Take the Bolivar Ferry –

This is favorite because on all occasions we have been able to spot dolphins. This is exiting for the girls because it’s not an animal that you see often. It is also really neat to travel with the seagulls who follow along in hopes of being fed. Though you’re not supposed to, people often sneak in a treat for them.

2. Eat at Pier 21 –

Being near the sea, means better seafood options. There are some all over Galveston but I have to say that some of the restaurants along Pier 21 have great options, in particular Fisherman’s Wharf. Don’t be fooled, their extensive menu has plenty of non-seafood items too…

How to Revamp the Guest Bedroom for Summer Visits

School’s out! The kids are home and this is the perfect time for vacations. Friends and family that you haven’t seen in months are likely to come visit and spend a few days in your home. And if your guest bedroom is like mine – only occupied during especial occasions – it probably needs some TLC. While, I will admit that I was worried about what I’d do with out guest bedroom, I just followed these easy steps to get it looking and feeling cozy.

1. Pick Out Colors or Theme

This is the starting point, whether it’s a coastal theme or blue tones, it is important to have a clear vision of what you want for the space. Otherwise, you’ll waste time, money and can easily end up with something that you may not be happy with.

2. Find Affordable Bedding

Bedding can be one of the most expensive items in a room. So it is important to find pieces that look great, feel great – your guest will sleep on these – and look great. In our home I use lighter pieces like quilts and coverlets, because they’re light and can be layered with extra blankets if needed. I’m linking some below, including the style I have in our master – which you might have seen on Instagram before.
