Transitioning Outfits from Summer to Fall (If You Live in the South)

Transitioning Outfits from Summer to Fall (If You Live in the South)

Temperatures will start dropping soon and in preparation I thought I’d share a few tips for transitioning outfits from summer to fall. One of my favorite outfits to wear between summer and fall involves denim shorts. Sound crazy because most people only wear denim shorts during summer. But hear me out, I find that denim shorts can totally be worn in fall as well. That’s if you style them the right way.

To transition denim shorts into fall; on top you can wear lightweight sweaters, long sleeve bodysuits and long sleeve blouses. You can even pair denim shorts with cardigans, blazers and jackets for a layered look! While on your feet, I’d say to opt for ankle boots, closed toe slides or loafers. All these items are fall essentials anyway and can be worn with other bottoms to maximize your wardrobe.

Another clothing item that is fun and easy to transition into fall is dresses. These can also be paired with boots (ankle booties or over the knee) and even sneakers. They can be layered with cardigans, leather jackets and even denim jackets. While these two are mostly worn during summer, it is totally acceptable to wear these beyond that season. Especially because fall in all honesty is a lot like spring when it comes to temperatures! So why not extend your use of these items in your wardrobe… I am linking everything in my look below for you to shop. But I’m curious, do you have any transitioning outfits that you love? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

  1. I really wish I liked wearing shorts more. I’m just so uncomfortable in them, and even on the hottest summer days, I’m usually wearing pants or at least a dress to avoid shorts haha. Although, I do love a good paperbag waist short. So maybe I’ll see how I can transform those for late summer/early autumn!

  2. Love styling fall fashion and coming from New York I am always curious how others from warmer climates inject pieces into their outfits for the season. Love this look, so effortless and cute! coco, Sarah

  3. I live north of Dallas and hate giving up my flip flops! I have a pair of Ugg flip flops ~ the actual “rust” colored thong part with the authentic fuzzy stuff underneath. If I wear long enough bootcut jeans, I can still wear flip flops into December (and sometimes January) and my feet are warm!

  4. It is still super hot here – like 96 today ~ so we are still full on summer but once the temps drop i am looking forward to some cozier pieces!!
