Today is all about date night at home. I’ve teamed with four bloggers to bring you some fun and simple date night ideas that you can do at home. Because let’s face it, sometimes it’s hard to get a sitter and have a date night out on the town. So, with these ideas, you can still have a special date night. 😉
My idea consists of trying new recipes. I find that cooking together is great activity to do as a couple. And cooking something new, is almost like going through a trust exercise. My advice is;
- Find a recipe you both want to try
- Shop for ingredients together
- Make the meal together, no excuses…
It’s not supposed to look perfect, it’s supposed to bring you two closer. On date night, the kids can pick out their own dinner too; nuggets for example instead of a traditional dinner. This way they can eat and still be ready for bed at a good time; allowing you time to cook our meal and eat together. Everyone wins!
We choose to make a Mexican Cornbread recipe that we found. I am a true fan of one pot meals and this is similar, in a way.
I’m linking the original recipe here for you to check out too.
Once we had all our ingredients, we set the oven to 350°F and started on cooking the beef. Then, we chop the onion and jalapeños and set aside. Next, we mixed the salt, baking soda, milk, egg, corn and cheese. Finally, added the onion, jalapeños and brown beef. Then, poured it in the prepared baking pan; baking for about 50 minutes.
While in the oven, we enjoyed a few drinks. I didn’t add the recipe to this but if you’re interested, let me know and I will add a post for it. 😉
Now, how do you do date night?! Leave me a comment!
