Four Plants to Add to Your Home this Summer

Collecting plants has become quite the hobby for me. While I have always loved plants, before I used to think I didn’t have the slightest green thumb. That’s because I have killed a few. Now, I even dare say I might just have one and go as far as to consider myself a plant mom. It has taken time to get to know my plants, of course. I have also done a lot of research in order to learn how to care for each plant properly. But I feel that once you’ve done it for a few months, you become quite a natural.

That’s not to say that there are not some plants that can be a little tricky. This is why I’m here today. There are many plants that are good for beginners. Those are the ones that I want to share with you today. Plants are not only decorative but they can also be beneficial to you. So I often opt for adding a plant to a space that needs a little decorating, whether indoors or outdoors.

So, my favorite beginner plants are Snake plants, Pothos, Ferns and Philodendron Xanadu. Snake plants are among most people’s favorite. They don’t require much attention and are in fact pretty resistant to neglect. I am not saying to neglect your plants, but if you forget to water it for a while, it won’t die on you. It is also said that is purifies the air around you, a total bonus.

Pothos are a personal favorite. I have killed at least one but also saved one for two leaves to a full plant. This one is also resistant to neglect. I keep mine indoors with bright indirect light. When it comes to watering, I do so when the soil is nearly dry, this is in an effort to not overwater – this is how I killed my first one.

Ferns I find to be pretty resilient as well. As long as you water often, because they are thirsty little ones. I have a fern that is a an absolute beauty. I will snap a pic and post it on my stories later so that you can see what I mean. These babies like to grow large, so I recommend potting in a large pot to give it room to grown.

Philodendron Xanadu has been one of my favorite because it is also resilient. I have forgotten about it a time or two and it has not given up on me. I have noticed that if I don’t water it correctly the new growth is smaller but the baby doesn’t die. That’s it for my list of favorite beginners plants.
