We SOLD & moved to an apartment! While this isn’t completely new… the fact that the girls are sharing a bedroom is. This is the first time EVER they’ve had to share a room. For that reason, I wanted the room to feel like a special place. Now that the room is finally set up (inset praising hands emoji), I thought I’d share it with y’all. 🙂 I feel like I did pretty good because they seem to love it as much as I do. What do y’all think? Because another reason for me doing a room reveal is to inspire anyone that comes across my post. But that’s enough chatter on my part, let me take you on a tour.
Gallery Wall
Call me crazy but gallery walls are in my opinion the easiest form of decor. Sure, it can take some time to figure out which pieces to put together (like a puzzle) but they cover a great deal of any wall. This is the largest gallery wall I’ve put together and because it’s a shared room, I tried adding pieces that fit both their personalities. I picked up a few pieces at some of my favorite stores and added some DIY pieces as well. I finished it off by adding more personal touches like framed photos from recent years. 🙂
Homework Nook
Since Nayelli is now in 3rd grade, she brings homework more regularly. With that said, it was important for her to have a space where she could sit and work. While I will admit that making the switch from our 2600+ sq. ft. home to a two bedroom apartment has meant a huge cut on living space and storing certain furniture items away, the desk simply made the cut. You may not remember this desk, but it’s actually a DIY post I shared on the blog before, you can check it out here!
Decorative Details
I can’t say that I was going for a certain theme when decorating their room. However, I did know that I wanted the space to be bright and colorful. Nalani loves purples and pinks and if you ask her she will tell you in her cute toddler voice. While Nayelli likes greens and pinks. So, I tried to use this color palette as inspiration instead. Some of the details that I added to the space include changing out the original knobs to the dresser (because these were just much cuter), adding pretty decorative storage boxed and hanging up a garland I handmade for the nursery a few years back.
Storage
Again, having moved to an apartment has meant loosing square footage. So, I’ve had to get creative with storage and what better way than with decorative boxes. Not only do I love decorative boxes because they’re super cute, but also because they discretely hide my little’s hoarded items, I mean collectibles. Nayelli, for instance is quite the sunnies collector and one of these boxes stores them all.
I have a lot of fun decorating. While the hubby thinks that I’m always decorating, it do so on a budget. I’m linking a few of the pieces you have seen here below. If you have any questions on any that I may not have linked, shoot me a note. 😉
If you have been apartment living, I am open to suggestions as I am still working on the rest of the areas. 🙂
