Travel: San Blas Islands Day Trip

San Blas is one of the most breathtaking destinations I have visited. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an Archipelago with 365 islands. While only 49 of these are inhabited, they’re plenty to enjoy. A Panama San Blas Tour is among the most popular things to do in the country because the Island Hopping tour goes to 4 Islands‎. After visiting San Blas, I have to say that I can see why everyone raves about it. 🙂

It’s a day trip that usually costs no ore than $150; includes ground transport both ways (to and from your hotel), lunch and the boat ride to 4 islands. 😉 The trip starts early in the morning but there’s plenty of nap time from the time you’re picked up to the time you arrive at the port.

Touring the Islands

The first stop we made was Chichime Island. This is one of my favorites, because they had the cutest cabins – can I say Instagramable?! There are also lots of palm trees for shade. The water is quiet and beautiful. This island is inhabited and welcomes overnight guests. Which is a perfect alternative to doing a day trip. Though, I hear that it’s a lot like camping.

The second stop was the Piscina Natural. A sand bar in the middle of the ocean where the boat drops you off and allows you to swim and explore. On our trip we spotted starfish, which are so hard to photograph but included below. 😬 There was something absolutely fun about standing in the middle of the ocean. This was by far my most favorite part of the trip. It was such a unique experience, I had never done anything like it before.

The only other time I was in the middle of the ocean like this, was in Bocas del Toro. On that trip the sights were similar with lots of beautifully blue waters and we did an excursion that took us to snorkel. The last two Islands that the San Blas Tour took us to were Isla Aguja and Isla Perro. Which seemed popular due to the amount of people, some were even camping. While the island was just as beautiful as the others, surrounded by blue waters, the beach was very rocky. I personally didn’t enjoy this beach as much, but it was nice to sit by the water and soak up the sun. If you plan to visit Panama, make sure to include the San Blas Tour in your itinerary, you won’t regret it.
